Crypto Tax Filings Nearly Double in Finland, But Majority Remain Undeclared
Finnish taxpayers reporting cryptocurrency trades surged from 8,200 to 16,000 in a year, yet this represents only a fraction of the estimated 300,000 digital asset holders in the country. Declared gains reached €230 million against €30 million in losses—a stark increase from the combined €50 million reported two years prior.
Authorities are intensifying enforcement, with asset seizures and cross-border operations targeting non-compliance. The crackdown included the dismantling of Garantex, an exchange linked to $96 billion in illicit transactions since 2019.
